I am lucky to never have been seriously involved with any of the boys from KEGS, but I am certain that growing up around the boys from KEGS has shaped the way I expect men to behave for the worst. I instinctively expect that having sexual relations with men will inevitably lead to them talking about me in a derogatory and objectifying way with their male friends and losing respect for me. It was also so normalised for younger boys to rate and objectify female sixth formers from so early on – as if these girls aren’t there for the sake of education. There was a culture of competition in which boy could secure the most nude photos from girls who they’d use and to whom they’d show no respect. They would also usually share them with their friends. There urgently needs to be reform in the sex and consent education these boys receive from early on because the environment is absolutely toxic.
